so now we need to type in the bands name, fuck that. what if i had never heard of Railroad Earth, how would i search for them.

Agreed!!!!!! What happened to the "Brouse bands in the archive" link? It made it so easy to look for bands and their shows. Now what,do I have to go thru a tons of hoops to find what I'm looking for? What I had loved about this site was that it was so user friendly. Now has it become an elitest thing? I hope not. Please, please go back to the old format. Remember on some things change is not always a good thing.

What happened to the "Brouse bands in the archive" link?

It's still there; it's called "Browse by creator" now.

How's that, Brad? :)

I'm starting to think we should make that size 72 font.

Why was this term changed to begin with? "Brouse bands in the Archive" was pretty obvious. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

See Diana's response in #1.

Short answer: It -was- broke and needed fixing. Good post from Brad with an overview of why LMA made these changes.

Re: "creator" - Ok, you have a good reason for that, especially if you want all of the pages to have a similar look/feel. It can be confusing, though. Sometimes you need to step back and look at it through the eyes of someone that is newer to the site (no, I am not new). Maybe by using something like "Complete Alphabetical Listing", it stays general enough to be used across the board, but is still fully descriptive of its purpose.
Re: "if it ain't broke..." refers to my above complaint, not the Archive. I have been looking forward to the changes that I know needed to happen, and have been expecting a learning curve. My hats off to everyone here, who has done a stellar job in keeping this website running! I mention this site to anyone who will listen!!

Shoot, unfortunately that description would be a bit *too* general, because that link really does pull up Creators, and then you are confusing the people who'd be expecting an Alpha Title listing (typical of texts or feature films, perhaps).

In fact in the text case for example, people are usually looking for either Title or Author. So our having to accomodate seeing a link named "Browse by Creator" instead of "Browse by Band" on the LMA side, is the similar to Text folks having to put up with seeing "Browse by Creator" instead of "Browse by Author."

while some of his language is not all that proper..
his sentiment is right on.. and so far there has been plenty other people who would agree with his basic points..

and so far not much of a response other than the usual.. yeah its been noted and we will look into it..
one simple thing can be done by adding the browse link from the main page back to the live audio page but it still hasn't been done

what i find funny is that when the site started having mp3's it alienated the flac/shn only people..
and now that you have changed the format it is alienating many who were left..

whil i appreciate this site very much.. i am still allowed to voice my discontent.. just as you are free to praise the site...

Well, I guess it's probably not known - pretty much all of the people responding to these posts have *no* power to fix this. None of us have the power to change any of the HTML on this site, all we can do is organize the complaints and pass them on to the 1 or 2 people that do.

I know you are tired of hearing this Matt, but please give them time.
